When Veeam ONE 6.5 was released last month, it included a lot of enhancements and new features. Most notably, we introduced advanced monitoring, reporting and capacity planning for backup, making it easier than ever for our customers to protect their virtual environments.
With all the hoopla around the new capabilities for backup, you might have missed the Infrastructure Growth report we tucked into the Offline report pack. Built for Adobe Flash, this report is like a movie for your virtual infrastructure where you can watch events like clusters being created, hosts being added, and VMs being moved or deleted.

Admittedly, a report like this isn’t very interesting when you first install Veeam ONE because not much configuration data has been collected yet. After a month or so, though, the plot improves. And as a bonus - even though the report is new in 6.5, we started collecting the data that goes into it when we released version 6.0 of Veeam ONE last April. So, if you’re one of the many customers who’ve already installed 6.0, you’ve got a blockbuster to watch now.
The Infrastructure Growth report is available in both the Free Edition and full version of Veeam ONE. I had a chance to speak to Vitaliy Safarov, Product Manager for Veeam ONE. I asked him what was the inspiration for creating this feature. He replied:
It is a great way to show C-level management how the IT budget was used and illustrate how the IT infrastructure matured over time.

The Infrastructure Growth report is part of the offline report pack of Veeam ONE 6.5. It’s very easy to use (but Adobe Flash needs to be configured for the browser) and is located on the Workspace tab of the Reporter web interface. It is towards the bottom as shown in the figure below:
Finally - as we close out the year, we’re releasing patches for Veeam Backup & Replication 6.5 and Veeam ONE 6.5. The patch for Veeam ONE 6.5 is available now. Be sure you are subscribed to the Veeam Community Forums newsletter so you can get the latest from the product team, and the patch for Backup will be announced there.
