How to recover SAP HANA tenant database

I’ve been very fortunate to speak with customers as they implement the Veeam Plug-in for SAP HANA. During a recent customer pilot project, the following question was asked: “Why doesn’t the plug-in restore newer SAP HANA data after a full VM restore operation is executed?” Upon further investigation, I was inspired to expand upon existing Veeam documentation and share the results as you may find them helpful. Building a Backup DMZ in the AWS Cloud

Recently Veeam released Veeam Backup for AWS. A new product providing cloud-native data protection to AWS workloads, whether they are born in the cloud or migrated to the cloud. With this new release of Veeam Backup for AWS, new considerations, specifically how to build a backup environment, must be put in place. Isolated accounts leveraging built-in AWS security boundaries are needed to be implemented. As such, a “Backup DMZ” should be used to protect all the data that is being backed up. Read more

v10: The next iteration of Veeam Cloud Tier

With the release of Veeam Backup & Replication 9.5 Update 4 in 2019, we introduced the Veeam Cloud Tier which enabled customers to take advantage of Object Storage. Due to its increasing popularity, infinite scale-out capacity and lower cost for long term retention, Object Storage offers many advantages over traditional block and file-based storage systems. We have witnessed an overwhelming adoption of Object Storage despite the fact that in Update 4, the Cloud Tier was only capable of offloading older data to help to reduce the costs of long-term archival. And now v10 brings more! Read more

Microsoft Office 365 automated auxiliary backup deployment

One of the biggest challenges when backing up data from Microsoft Office 365 was Microsoft's throttling metrics placed on SharePoint Online and OneDrive site data. This throttling is based on per account to a single site. In previous versions of Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365, the backup processing will download data with the one account used to authenticate the organization. Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365 version 4 added a new feature called auxiliary backup accounts to help mitigate this issue. Read more
