Frequently Asked Questions

What is Veeam Disaster Recovery Orchestrator?

Veeam® Disaster Recovery Orchestrator delivers a reliable, scalable and easy-to-use orchestration and automation engine that’s purpose-built for today’s business continuity/disaster recovery (BC/DR) needs. By eliminating manual testing and recovery processes that are inefficient, lengthy and error-prone, Veeam Disaster Recovery Orchestrator provides a planned, practiced and proven DR strategy — using replicas and backups — for more resilient IT operations.

  • Skyrocket operational efficiencies
Eliminate manual, repeatable processes with comprehensive orchestration and automation for one-click DR and migrations.
  • Maximize service availability
Meet application-specific SLOs while reducing spend with flexible, full support for replication and backup.
  • Boost confidence in your DR plans
Constantly validate recoverability and compliance of DR plans with fully automated, non-disruptive testing and documentation.
Note: At the release of version 4, Veeam Availability Orchestrator was rebranded to Veeam Disaster Recovery Orchestrator. This rebranding is a name change only to better reflect the broad disaster recovery capabilities of this product and its benefits across other Veeam package offerings. All previous Veeam Availability Orchestrator features, functionality and packaging remain intact as part of this rebranding effort. At v5, the product UI, release notes, help center and related content will be fully rebranded to finalize the name change.
What is DR Pack?

DR Pack is a new exciting packaging option where Veeam Disaster Recovery Orchestrator can be added on top of a new or previous purchase of either Veeam Availability Suite™ or Veeam Backup & Replication™ to ensure business continuity for all your VMs (not just the most-critical ones)!

With the price starting from $30 per VM, this is the simplest and most cost-effective BC/DR solution on the market!

The total number of purchased DR Pack licenses must match the total number of VMware vSphere VMs licensed in Veeam Availability Suite or Veeam Backup & Replication. For more information, please refer to our pricing or contact sales.

How is Veeam Disaster Recovery Orchestrator purchased?

Veeam Disaster Recovery Orchestrator is procured in two ways:

  • Via DR Pack, which is a packaging option where Veeam Disaster Recovery Orchestrator can be added on top of a new or previous purchase of either Veeam Availability Suite or Veeam Backup & Replication to ensure business continuity for all your VMs (not just the most-critical ones)!

One. Orchestrated instances are assigned to VMs, where one orchestrated instance is equivalent to one VM, regardless of how many orchestration plans that VM is included in.
Can I remove a VM from Veeam Disaster Recovery Orchestrator if it’s no longer needed and apply its license counter to another VM for orchestration?
Yes, Veeam Disaster Recovery Orchestrator includes dynamic licensing, and licenses can be applied to VMs as they are added or removed from a failover plan.
