Export to JSON restore for Microsoft Entra ID objects is now available in Veeam Data Cloud for Entra ID. Users can now select any protected Entra ID object and export it as a JSON file directly from a restore point.

Exported JSON includes the following: Object properties and relationships captured at time of backup, sensitive data (where present), and schema metadata required for import into Entra ID or compatible systems. Restore points retain the original schema, with no automatic conversion to the latest Entra ID schema. The export action is also protected by dedicated RBAC permissions and recorded through audit logging.

Why This Matters

With export to JSON, users gain greater control and flexibility when responding to identity incidents or complex recovery scenarios. Instead of relying on in-place restores, teams can now export a precise, point-in-time representation of Entra ID objects for visibility or external workflows.
