Forbes names Veeam as a Top 100 Cloud Company

Between celebrating our 10th anniversary, acquiring our 200,000th customer and making our biggest product announcement yet — the Veeam Availability Platform for the Hybrid Cloud — this year has already been a memorable one for Veeam. But, as incredible as 2016 has been, we expect next year to be even better. We have always known that our company has what it takes, and today, our efforts were recognized in the first-ever Forbes 2016 Cloud 100, the definitive list of the top 100 private-cloud companies in the world.

You can read more about the award from Forbes here, and find us on their slideshow here. The list was ... Read more

Don’t be another IT statistic — eliminate your Availability Gap with NetApp and Veeam

It’s safe to say that users expect their applications to be Always On. When was the last time you remember Google search or Gmail being unavailable? Or Amazon’s web store? How about UBER? And, if for some reason you couldn’t access these services, they likely became available shortly after resetting your browser. The fact is that users expect a similar Availability experience everywhere they go.

Now, you may argue that your business is not a Google, Amazon or UBER, but it doesn’t matter. Unless you can consistently provide a reliable service to your customers, you’re at risk of losing them to a competitor who can.

And yet, 84% of IT planners believe they have an Availability Gap between what their customers, partners ... Read more

Advanced ReFS integration coming in Veeam Availability Suite 9.5

In my last post, I outlined a number of new enterprise scalability features: Backup acceleration technologies, full VM-restore acceleration technologies and core engine enhancements. Part of the announcement for 9.5 was about the new advanced ReFS integration, which I’ll cover in this post as it is a significant technology for Veeam. Let’s dig in!

Enterprise scalability and more coming in Veeam Availability Suite 9.5!

Last month, when we hosted the Next Big Thing virtual event, we unveiled the latest parts of Veeam Availability Suite 9.5: Enhanced enterprise scalability and advanced ReFS integration, and we have received many questions on both topics. In this post, we will dive deeper into the enterprise scalability enhancements — and I will explain the advanced ReFS integration in another post as it is a significant technology of its own.

Backup Copy Job – it can do more than just a copy!

Veeam's Backup Copy Job can provide more than its name suggests. The primary task of Backup Copy Job is to copy existing backup data to another disk system in order to restore it later or even to send backup data to an offsite location (see the 3-2-1 Rule).

Additionally, Backup Copy Job performs an integrity check of the backup data. Veeam saves a checksum for every data block in the backup file. Backup Copy Job verifies if the checksum fits and therefore, it can detect if the data has been changed (for example, to ensure there was no so-called “silent data corruption”, i.e. any overlooked errors).

How to get benefits with Hyper-V virtualization

According to the latest Gartner report regarding x86 Server Virtualization Infrastructure, about 80% of server workloads are virtualized, and Hyper-V platform is among the leaders in the area of virtualization. Have you ever wondered why server virtualization became so popular? Today, I will share a few advantages because of which companies should really consider Hyper-V virtualization in order to not be in the 20% of non-virtualized (legacy) organizations. Read more

Veeam Cloud Connect Replication: More than just the cloud

The Always-On Enterprise must ensure that its services comply with today’s new demands and challenges. Availability plays a central role here. In addition to common situations where a backup is needed (for example, when a user accidentally deletes data or a system cannot start after an update), more recent issues related to encryption-based Trojans also plague organizations today. While protecting backups against encryption-based Trojans was discussed earlier in this Veeam blog, many companies continue to look for solutions that deal, not only with backup protection, but also with disaster recovery (DR) scenarios.

Backup repositories: VMware backup best practices (Part 3)

I’m enjoying this series of blogs! This is a great way to share information about the best practices for the VMware backup experience. This post will now vary slightly from the other two and talk about the backup repository. This was another breakout session from Anton Gostev at VeeamON 2015 (those who attended were lucky to get the live experience) and will surely be a great one to catch in 2017 in New Orleans. This will be written in mind of Veeam Backup & Replication v9, but can be a starting point to making good changes in your environment.
