Fast recovery with NetApp snapshots and Veeam

Let’s face it, for an IT administrator, recovery is a big part of your world. Over the years, I’ve seen exhaustion and fatigue on the faces of IT staff struggling to recover their business applications and data after unplanned system disruptions. In the IT arena, ever-increasing demands and expectations are setting the bar higher, and fast recovery is a key to success.

Veeam’s deep integration with NetApp enables businesses to leverage storage snapshots to create application consistent backups to fast SAN/NAS based repositories. As a result, IT administrators avoid the pain, frustration and exhaustion often experienced when in “recovery mode.”

Veeam and Nimble Storage integration: First-hand configuration and recovery

Veeam is extending its storage integration offerings to the support of Nimble Storage arrays in the upcoming Veeam Availability Suite 9.5. The Beta is already available for testing, and I used this chance to get first-hand experience. In this post, I’ll share insights from my experience and review the functional use cases delivered by this Veeam-Nimble Integration.

The Veeam-Nimble integration follows the same approach as Veeam’s existing integration capabilities with other enterprise storage solutions. It’s all about leveraging the underlying storage hardware and snapshot capability. The Veeam-Nimble integration offers the benefits of minimum impact on the virtual infrastructure during the backup process, RTPO of less than 15 minutes and verified recoverability.

Google doesn’t lie: Veeam is a market disruptor

There are a few facts of life we can never run away from: the sun will rise and set, we will all get older and everyone Googles. We’ve all done it, either consulted Dr. Google to self-diagnose, or if you’re like me, conducted primary research using Google before purchasing a car or the latest noise-cancelling headphones.

As a marketer, I’ve often wondered how these searches translate into actual purchasing decisions. As the CMO at Veeam, I like to think that each Google search about Veeam directly contributes to our growth.

Enter Google Trends, a slice of marketing measurement heaven. This public web tool based on Google Search shows how often a particular search term is entered, relative to the total search-volume across ... Read more

Backup Server placement and configuration: VMware backup best practices (Part 1)

When it comes to deciding what are can be considered “BEST” practices, a lot can be up for interpretation. One thing that we do know for sure is that when Gostev presented VT-466 VMware Backup Best Practices: 2015 Edition there was something for everyone to learn. This was without a doubt one of the most popular sessions from VeeamON 2014 and 2015, and I can’t wait to see what the 2017 edition will look like!

That being said, we’ve decided to release a few key points here in a blog series from this session from last year, to share the knowledge and ramp up for VeeamON 2017.

Veeam Management Pack data in Microsoft Operations Manager Suite (Part 3)

In the first part of this series, we looked at OMS and whether it is a replacement of OpsMgr or if the two solutions can complement each other. We created the integration between the two solutions and after that we started part two of this series and worked with streamed alert data. We created custom queries, extracted data out of custom fields and finally used PowerBI to create some nice visualizations to understand what is happening in the environment.

Today, we are going to continue on that path but now with performance data.
