Challenge

Connect-VBRServer PowerShell cmdlet fails with the error:

Connect-VBRServer : Cannot connect to backup server because some of its components are out of date.
Screenshot of powershell console showing the error

Cause

This issue occurs when the Veeam Backup & Replication Console files on the remote machine where the command was run do not match the files on the Veeam Backup Server.

Solution

After Veeam Backup & Replication is updated or a hot-fix is installed on the Veeam Backup Server, the Veeam Backup & Replication Console on the machine where the script is being run must be launched and successfully connected at least once to allow the Console software to synchronize application updates with the remote machine.

If a private fix was installed on the Veeam Backup Server, and the issue persists after successfully connecting with the Veeam Backup & Replication Console on the remote machine, the private fix may need to be manually installed on that remote machine.

If the command continues to fail with the same error, isolate the issue by running the same Connect-VBRServer command on the Veeam Backup Server itself. If the command can be run without error locally, but fails remotely, take note of the result and include it when creating a Veam Support case.

If this KB article did not resolve your issue or you need further assistance with Veeam software, please create a Veeam Support Case.
