Scope of This Article

This article describes only the new search experience in Veeam Data Cloud for Microsoft 365. It does not cover all available search functions. Direct Search and Advanced Search remain available and support capabilities that are not yet part of the new search. For example, searching within email body content is available through Advanced Search.

Purpose

We are excited to announce the initial rollout of our new search feature, designed to significantly improve the speed and efficiency of your search experience. Below are the details and important limitations to be aware of during this phased rollout.

What's New

  • Faster Search Experience
    Our upgraded search engine delivers results much more quickly, ensuring you can find what you need with minimal wait time.
  • New Option to Search Across All Restore Points
    Search across all restore points to locate items, including deleted items — a capability previously available only in the browse experience.
    • Limitation: Only items after 2025-03-31 are available in this new search. Any items deleted before that will not appear in the new search results; a direct search is required in such cases.
  • Restore Point Search
    The new search feature lets you search by restore points.
    • Limitation: Only restore points created after 2025-03-31 are available in search.
  • Scope of New Search (Currently in Second Phase)
    • The first rollout includes only email (Exchange) search.
    • The second phase added a search for OneDrive and SharePoint.
    • Teams search capabilities will be added in the next phase.
  • Email Body Content Search (Initial New Search Limitation)
    • At launch, searching within email body content will not be available. This capability may be added in future updates.
    • Email body content search is available as part of the Advanced Search functionality.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I be able to see deleted items in Search?
Yes, but you will only be able to see items deleted after March 31st, 2025, in the new search experience. All deleted items going forward will also be visible in the new search.
Will I be able to search for the actual content of emails?

Not in the new search experience at this time. Searching within the body of emails is not part of the initial release of the new search.

Email body content can be searched by using Advanced Search, where the Body criterion is available for Outlook. For more information, see Performing Advanced Search and Advanced Search Criteria.
