Cause

These issues occur when the Tape Server is added to a different Veeam Backup Server.

Veeam Backup & Replication  does not support sharing tape devices with other Veeam Backup Servers.

Solution

To resolve this issue, reclaim the Tape Server with the Veeam Backup Server where errors occur.

  1. Edit the Tape Server entry
  2. When the "Edit Tape Server" wizard opens, click Next

    A pop-up should appear stating:
"Specified host is already added as a tape server to the backup server xyz. Take ownership?
  3. Click  [ Yes ]

  1. In the "Edit Tape Server" wizard, click [ Finish ] to close the wizard and reclaim the Tape Server.

If reclaiming ownership does not resolve the issue, please open a Veeam Support case.

More Information

When the Tape Server has been claimed by another Veeam Backup Server, attempting to run Tape Verification on the original Veeam Backup Server where that Tape Server was connected will display an unclear warning. This warning does not make clear that the failure to verify is because the Veeam Backup Server cannot communicate with the Tape Server.
