How does Veeam protect Epic EHR environments? 
Veeam Data Platform protects the full Epic environment under one set of policies and one console. The InterSystems IRIS operational database is protected by Veeam Snap Scale Backup for Enterprise Applications, introduced in v13.1, which pairs application-aware orchestration with storage snapshots. The Clarity reporting database, web blob storage, and the Hyperspace and service-tier VMs are protected alongside it. 
Does Veeam protect the InterSystems IRIS database Epic runs on?
Yes. A dedicated Protection Group discovers your IRIS instances and their associated storage volumes automatically, with no manual mapping. Veeam then drives snapshots on your storage system through the Universal Storage API. The IRIS instance is frozen only for the brief moment the snapshot is created, so restores return an application-consistent copy of the database.
How fast can Veeam back up and restore Epic databases? 
 Veeam Snap Scale Backup is designed for enterprise databases at 100+ TB. Snapshot clones mount to Linux proxies and are read in high parallelization, while source-side deduplication compares large database files area by area and moves only what changed. For recovery, export a storage snapshot clone straight to the target for speed, or run a full restore from backup with the same parallelization.
How does Veeam help with HIPAA compliance for Epic data?  
Veeam helps you meet HIPAA requirements for protecting electronic patient data. Immutable, encrypted backups keep records from being altered or deleted, and role-based access controls limit who can restore them. Veeam ONE, included with Veeam Data Platform Advanced Edition and above, gives you the reporting to show auditors that protection is in place and working.
How does Veeam protect Epic EHR from ransomware? 
Epic backups land in standard Veeam repositories, so they inherit the same protections as the rest of your estate. Immutable backups in hardened repositories can't be altered or deleted, even by an attacker who reaches production.
